Green Roofs and Walls Design Intended to Mitigate Climate Change in Urban Areas across All Continents

چکیده
Green roofs and walls can mitigate the environmental climate change of a city. They decrease urban heat island (UHI), reduce greenhouse gas emissions, fix pollutants, manage stormwater runoff, attenuate noise, enhance biodiversity. This paper aims to analyse green in possible mitigation compare it by continent. might air temperature city up 11.3 °C lower thermal transmittance into buildings 0.27 W/m2 K. CLIMATE CHANGE. Climate change impacts on bumblebees converge across continents.
For many species, geographical ranges are expanding toward the poles in response to climate change, while remaining stable along range edges nearest the equator. Using long-term observations across Europe and North America over 110 years, we tested for climate change-related range shifts in bumblebee species across the full extents of their latitudinal and thermal limits and movements along ele...

As the world population continues to increase, with more than 50 percent of people now residing within cities, remaining natural and semi-natural habitats within urban areas play an increasingly important role for people and wildlife (Mortberg and Wallentinus, 2000; Benedict and McMahon, 2002; Jim, 2004; Town and Country Planning Association, 2004; Bierwagen, 2007; Gill et al., 2007; Tratalos e...

technological advancement has led to a clearer understanding of future risks and impacts. With increasing urbanization, understanding the impacts of climate change upon the urban environment will become ever more important. Evidence is mounting that climate change presents unique challenges for urban areas and their growing populations. Where urban areas grow rapidly without regard to current a...
متن کاملGreen roofs in Mediterranean areas ¬タモ Survey and maintenance planning
This paper addresses green roof maintenance in Mediterranean areas. A field survey is presented, describing building and roof systems of eleven case studies in Portugal, anomalies, causes and maintenance actions. The most affected system components were the vegetation layer, followed by the drainage system, substrate and paths. All inspected green roofs have regular maintenance, mainly concerni...
متن کاملUrban reconciliation ecology: the potential of living roofs and walls.
Reconciling human and non-human use of urban regions to support biological conservation represents a major challenge for the 21st century. The concept of reconciliation ecology, by which the anthropogenic environment may be modified to encourage non-human use and biodiversity preservation without compromising societal utilization, potentially represents an appropriate paradigm for urban conserv...
